Water & Wastewater

Whether your need an NSF compliant structure for use in potable water or a baffle system for a chlorine contact chamber, Redwood Plastics offers a wide range of fiberglass solutions for the water and wastewater treatment industries.

Redwood Plastics product offerings for water and wastewater treatment include:

  • Fiberglass Baffle Panels
  • Odor Covers
  • Fabricated Structures
  • Weirs, Scum Baffles & Flight Channel
  • Fiberglass Baffle Panels

Redwood Plastics fiberglass baffle panels can be used in municipal and industrial water and wastewater systems, aeration and contact chambers and retention basins. The lightweight panels are easily installed and are ideal for retrofitting into existing systems. The panels are also cost effective because they have a much longer life cycle as compared to wood, concrete and other traditional materials that are subject to rot and corrosion.

Redco Fiberglass Baffle Panels

Features of Pultruded Baffle Panels:

  • Corrosion/Rot Resistant
  • Low Conductivity
  • Lightweight
  • High Strength
  • UV Resistance
  • Dimensional Stability

Materials of Construction
Baffle panels are available in 12″ and 24″ widths to offer flexibility in design and fabrication. The standard panels are pultruded with a polyester resin system. The resin system has a UV inhibitor and the glass reinforcements are covered by a surfacing veil for enhanced corrosion resistance and additional UV protection. Class 1 ASTM E-84 rating, vinyl ester and a special resin system to meet NSF 61 requirements also are available.

Odor Control Covers
Several Redwood Plastics products, including Redco COMPOSOLITE®, Redco DURASHIELD®, Redco EXTREN®, Redco SAFPLANK®, and custom pultrusions, can be used to fabricate odor control covers. FRP composite covers are extremely corrosion resistant, strong and feature low thermal conductivity.

Fabricated Structures
Redwood Plastics works in partnership with Strongwell who has fabrication departments at its Bristol and Chatfield divisions to meet customer needs for structural fabrication. Strongwell’s typical fabrication services include beam, column and plate structures, all-fiberglass buildings, platforms and other custom fabrications involving grating and handrail. Specialized OEM type structures are also within Redwood Plastics capabilities.

Strongwell’s staff of registered professional engineers has a wealth of experience in designing fiberglass structures and can provide customers with design services for projects fabricated in-house by Strongwell. The company’s extensive knowledge of fabrication procedures, joint design and stress analysis of the composite assemblies in combination with the use of its fiberglass products result in structures of superior design, cost effectiveness and structural integrity. Clear, straightforward drawings of structures are provided to the customer for approval before fabrication begins (unless customer drawings are provided).

Weirs, Scum Baffles & Flight Channel
Redwood Plastics corrosion resistant pultruded FRP weirs, scum baffles and flight channel have a long and virtually maintenance-free service life. Redwood Plastics fabricated weirs can be made in a variety of configurations and are machined to the customer’s required dimensions. Pultruded FRP weirs and scum baffles have more flexibility in notch length, notch height and overall height than molded weirs and scum baffles. Varying thicknesses and much more strength and stiffness are additional advantages.
